Why?

I have been waging war against diabetes for over 13 years now. This medical disorder aggravated my squint. I have already had my beautiful eyes surgically corrected last 2015. After operation result was not perfect but satisfying nevertheless.

Diabetes the silent enemy within almost won the war on February 2013. I was hospitalized for 3 days because of a mild stroke due to hyperglycemia and hyperlipidemia. My right hand and fingers became numb after I got so angry one Sunday morning.

I escaped a life-threatening situation. Thank God He gave me another chance.

From the year 2015 to 2019, I controlled my diabetes somehow. I have to. I have to be physically fit before compulsory retiring from the police service.

Threat of having Uncontrolled Diabetes

The danger of having uncontrolled high blood sugar exacted its toll on one of my eyes again –Cataract. I developed cataract on my right eye. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, I had surgery postponed. I only had my cataract removed on the 25th of April 2022, a day before my birthday.

ON June 2023, I suffered gout on my right foot. Uncontrolled diabetes is one of the culprit. I followed doctor’s orders to the letter because I want to walk normal again. The pain of course is excruciating. When my gout was healed and had a blood chemistry test right after, I got a shocking surprise of the lab results.

BLESSING IN DISGUISE

Uric Acid is down to normal levels,

Cholesterol count also down to normal levels and – my blood sugar was also down to normal

It looked like and felt that I finally won the war against diabetes.

I was mistaken.

Diabetes is an invisible disease. Its potent weapon is the food you see everywhere.

Why?

It is our weakness –whenever I see food I eat.

And it is not only just eating. It is eating just one too many.

Assessment:

Diabetes is controllable. You just have to be disciplined in eating.

If you want to live a happy normal life, control your diabetes.

And when we say normal happy life – that includes your sex life.
